I have had an interest in astronomy since I was a young boy.  I still remember my excitement at seeing the moon for the first time through binoculars (10x50), and thinking that I could reach out and touch it!   My fascination with the moon still remains and this is my preferred object of interest.  Most other areas are far more difficult to observe and require much more elaborate setups. I have all of my gear (8.5 inch Newtonian) in storage at the moment, but have recently purchased a small and portable Meade ETX-105 EC (with UHTC optics) telescope.  I hope to post some pictures soon.

                              Home Cinema (HC)        [Page]

My interest in home cinema (theatre) started over 10 years ago and I keep adding to my collection of movies.  The hardware has changed significantly in this time to keep track of format changes: stereo to Dolby stereo to Dolby 'Surround' to Dolby 'Digital' and  DTS.  DVD has been the catalyst for enhanced HC as it improves picture quality and adds 'state of the art' sound.  As will all large screen enthusiasts I wait with interest for High Definition video sources and what that will bring to the experience.

Work with them, and these days could not work without them.  I remember when I was 16 going to the local University for a two week coarse on computing.  Never got to see the computer (that filled most a floor of the computer building) and the whole two weeks was spend learning BASIC and punching cards.  Programs to solve problems were usually written in a couple of hours, more time was taken to prepare the punch cards, and  submitted jobs where run overnight.  Hopefully the successful  printout was picked up the next day, however that was also when you found out it did not run for some reason.  Today computers are an indispensable tool.
